Disjecta Contemporary Art Center presents
Salon: Portland2016, The Studio Visits
July 9 – September 18
Disjecta’s 3,000-square-foot main gallery will host Salon: Portland2016, The Studio Visits, an expansive exhibition of 106 artists that were selected out of over 400 nominees for the 2016 Portland Biennial by internationally renowned curator Michelle Grabner. At the heart of Grabner’s vision is her investigation into regionalism, particularly how artists working in specific locations often reflect their geography and culture; and more broadly, how these local dynamics impact the global art world in a time of decentralization.
Opening Reception Saturday July 9, 2–6pm
Gallery Hours: Wednesday – Saturday, noon-6pm

Exploring Reality: Schneider Art Museum, Oregon Center for the Arts
January 15 – March 19, 2016
The Schneider Museum of Art presents Exploring Reality, an exhibition of nine artists who delve into and explore reality to complement the Southern Oregon University 2015 campus theme of the same title. By working with an outside curator, Shane McAdams, who is based in Wisconsin and New York, the Schneider Museum of Art is not only bringing great art from the state of Oregon to our region, but bringing national exposure to these Oregon artists. This type of reach helps to cultivate Oregon’s artistic ecology and further the careers of Oregon artists. Co-curator and Schneider Museum of Art Director Scott Malbaurn writes that “A vital component of this exhibition includes an outside curator and a spotlight on Oregon artists. We acknowledge the boundless talent that Oregon has amongst its contemporary art scene and we have made note of the need to expose others beyond the borders of Oregon to this talent.”
Opening Reception: Thursday, January 14
Museum Hours: Monday-Saturday 10am-4pm
